Ronald Witlen

Sacramento, California

Ronald Witlen joined The Burton Law Firm in February, 2016, and his practice areas include business structuring and formation, equity financings, corporate governance, and taxation.  Ronald adds securities and private equity experience to the firm from his time with TTV Capital, an Atlanta based venture capital firm investing in FinTech emerging growth companies.  Although Ronald hails from Atlanta, he is no stranger to Sacramento, having received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the McGeorge School of Law.  After graduating here in Sacramento, Ronald earned a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) from the University of San Diego, where he gained experience in tax controversy through the Federal Tax Clinic, and focused his studies on corporate taxation and valuations.

Before graduating from law school, Ronald was a summer associate with the Ohara Law Firm in Osaka, Japan, where he worked with supervising attorneys to advise U.S. multinationals in tax planning, intellectual property rights, and business transactions.  Ronald also spent a semester in Tokyo to study contract drafting and international tax planning.  While there, he assisted an aviation Maintenance, Repair and Operations group in drafting agreements and organizing a U.S. subsidiary.

In his spare time, Ronald enjoys studying Japanese, and plans on taking the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N3 in the near future.  He also enjoys engaging the community.  While living in Hiroshima, Ronald planted rice for Malian refugees and joined a volunteer group to clean the Hiroshima Peace Park.  During his time at McGeorge, he cofounded a student-led microfinance association to fund single mother entrepreneurs.  When he is not studying for the JLPT or volunteering, Ronald cheers on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and the Hiroshima Carp.
